Insulation Rebates are available from the Government now, and can be used to insulate your home.
The Australian federal government has announced a new Energy Efficient Homes Package that will provide rebates to homeowners who qualify. A whopping $3.9 billion has been set aside-and you could qualify to get up to $1,600 of those funds via an insulation rebate. Basically, this means you will get to insulate your home free, and as a result, you will save about $200 each year in lower heating and cooling costs for your home as a bonus.

If your home (like approximately 2.2 million other homes in Australia) does not have adequate (or any) ceiling or roof insulation, you can qualify for the Government Grant!
While the program will officially run from July 1 through December 2011, you can get a head start and qualify for an early rebate, if desired, thus beating the crowd and making your home more energy efficient even sooner. (That means you will start saving money sooner with lower energy bills, too!)
To be eligible for the rebate, here is what you need to do:
Go to the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage, and the Arts website online. Download the insulation rebate application and review the Homeowner Insulation Program Guidelines (dated July 1, 2009) to be sure you qualify and can comply with all requirements. (On the other hand, you can call the Department's toll free hotline at 1-800-808-571.)
Contact at least two of the installers listed on the Department's Installer Provider Register (on the website) to get written estimates for the completion of the job. The estimate must contain the following information: complete contact information for the installation company, a measurement of the area to be insulated, the type of insulation that will be installed and the R-Value of that insulation, and the cost of the work to be completed.
Select the installer who provides the lowest bid (the program requires you to select the lowest bidder) and contact the installer to be sure they are registered with the program as a government-approved installer for this program and that they meet all of the program requirements. When you are sure the installer meets all requirements (this is your responsibility), schedule the installer to come and do the work. Be sure the installer completes and signs the appropriate application when the work is complete.
Send in the application to the program. Do not pay the installer directly. The installer will receive payment directly from the Australian government through this program.
After that, you can sit back and enjoy the rewards of a well-insulated home at no cost to you! You'll save money on your energy bills all year long, stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer at lower cost to you, and also have less noise from outdoors making its way into your home. And best of all-this adds value to your home!
