Searching for a forklift training in Sydney?
Forklift training in Sydney is important for anyone who wants to obtain their forklift licence.
As you are aware, Goverments have set out certain pre requisites in order to obtain your forklift licence. An important pre requisite to obtain your forklift licence, is that you will need to complete a forklift training course in Sydney. One that is conducted by a registered forklift trainer and assessor. The reason for this is that you can be taught how to operate a forklift with safety and with competence.
But before you book into forklift training in Sydney, you also need to be at least 18 years of age. That's an important requirement.
However, only in exceptional circumstances will you be granted an exemption. In most cases, you will have to wait till you are 18 to apply for your licence. But if, you feel that your circumstances are exceptional, then you'll need to get your employer to apply to Worksafe NSW. It's important you specifically outline why you need to obtain your forklift licence before you are 18 years of age.
Apart from being over the age of 18, another pre requisite is that you have a basic understanding of English. This means that you have basic reading and writing skills. Now, Worksafe Victoria do not define what it means to have basic English. However, your English should be good enough so you can understand when someone instructs you to do something. This is important when doing practical forklift driver training.
When it comes to reading and writing, basic English means being able to understand the theory questions you will need to understand and answering them too. It will also be important to take instructions and be safe in the workplace.
You will also need to complete forklift training in Sydney and pass the forklift licence assessment.
Now, forklift training in Sydney is based on completing two separate components. They are vital to help you operate a forklift safely and competently and without injuring or causing serious injury to yourself and others.
The first of these modules is theory based. You will be given a study guide with information regarding forklift driver safety, pre checks before operating a forklift, work safety checks and also post checks.
The theory materials will give you information you will need to know about operating a forklift and the safety required in the workplace.
With the theory module completed, you will then go on to complete your practical forklift driver training. This will include pre operational checks, operational checks, load shifting and shut down procedures. In this module, the trainer will teach you how to safely operate a forklift.
Now, at the completion of the forklift training, you will be assessed by a certified forklift assessor. It is the assessors job to test and assess to see if you have fulfilled what is specified by Worksafe NSW.
Upon successfully completing the forklift assessment, you will receive a Notice of Assessment (NOA) from the assessor. This allows you to apply for your Forklift licence and operate a forklift for a period of 60 days.Upon issue of the Forklift Licence from Worksafe NSW, you will be licenced to operate a Forklift throughout Australia for a period of 5 years.
